“Domestication” of the Middle Eastern Policy of Turkey

The process of increasing the impact of the domestic factors on foreign policy has been observed in many countries in the current decade. This chapter is an analysis of the case of Turkey and its Middle Eastern Policy after the so-called Arab Spring. The author, using the foreign policy analysis (FPA), proves that the Post-Arab Spring Middle Eastern policy conducted by Turkey is to a large extent a function of the domestic factors – current and short-sighted domestic politics, ideology and personal factor. Their combination has a negative impact on the implementation of the key Turkish goal of becoming an influential and strong regional power.
