“Przejrzeć szlemiela”. Pytanie o współczesną tożsamość żydowskiego pechowca w filmografii Woody’ego Allena

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest analizie toposu szlemiela w komediach Woody’ego Allena – reżysera, scenarzysty i aktora żydowskiego pochodzenia. Celem pracy jest zbadanie współczesnego wcielenia wiecznego żydowskiego pechowca jako postaci pierwszoplanowej w filmach artysty. Autorka podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące współczesnej tożsamości tej figury oraz jej kulturowych uwarunkowań. Tym samym, wskazuje na obecność szlemiela jako trwałego, lecz reinterpretowanego toposu tej kultury.

This paper analyzes the topos of the schlemiel in the comedies of Woody Allen, a Jewish director, screenwriter, and actor. The aim of the work is to examine the contemporary incarnation of the eternally unlucky Jewish man as a leading figure in the artist's films. The author attempts to answer questions about the contemporary identity of this figure and its cultural determinants. In doing so, she points to the presence of the schlemiel as a persistent, yet reinterpreted, topos in this culture.
