A Tale of Two Temples of the Ninevite 5 Period
Abstract (EN)
Excavations of late Ninivite 5 levels on the nearby sites in the Syrian Jezireh, Tell Arbid and Tell Brak, brought to light the remains of two temples that are similar to each other, and at the same time differ from other sanctuaries from this period in the region. The number of the common features from the structures’ size to their internal arrangement, cannot be accidental and calls for consideration of the possible reasons behind them, such as the possibility of the existence of a regional “model” of a Ninevite 5 temple, which has not been previously recognized.
