The purpose of this paper is to analyze legal views and trends in case law regarding the admissibility of third-party intervention in civil status cases. This paper discusses views on the admissibility of third-party intervention in this category of proceedings, with particular emphasis on issues concerning limitations on the recognition of a legal interest within the meaning of Article 76 of the Code of Civil Procedure and the practical implications of adopting such a approach. The paper presents a characterization of proceedings in civil status cases and the impact of the specific nature of these cases on the development, in legal doctrine and case law, of a restrictive approach to the admissibility of third-party intervention and the examination of the legal interest of such intervenors in these types of proceedings. In the summary of the analysis, the author expressed a partially critical stance toward the prevailing restrictive approach, arguing that the established limitations lack sufficiently clear support in the applicable provisions governing the institution of third-party intervention.
