Filmowe reprezentacje osób głuchych

Praca analizuje reprezentację głuchych postaci w filmach fabularnych. Badanie koncentruje się na sposobach konstruowania wizerunku bohaterów głuchych, ich funkcjach fabularnych, relacjach społecznych oraz prezentacji komunikacji migowej. Punkt wyjścia stanowi przegląd literatury z zakresu reprezentacji i analizy treści. W części empirycznej dokonano analizy wybranego korpusu filmów, w których głusi bohaterowie odgrywają różnorodne role - od postaci marginalizowanych po wpływowych uczestników wydarzeń fabularnych. Opracowany schemat kodowania łączy elementy ilościowe i jakościowe, pozwalając uchwycić zarówno częstotliwość występowania wybranych kategorii, jak i ich znaczenie w narracji. Wyniki badania ukazują, że głusi bohaterowie pełnią wielorakie role, od postaci marginalizowanych po katalizatory zmiany w życiu bohaterów, a język migowy bywa przedstawiany w sposób fragmentaryczny i nie zawsze oddający jego pełne znaczenie kulturowe. Wnioski wskazują na potrzebę dalszych badań nad reprezentacją głuchych w filmie, z uwzględnieniem szerszej perspektywy społecznej.

This paper analyzes the representation of deaf characters in feature films. The study focuses on the ways in which deaf characters are constructed, their narrative functions, social relationships, and the presentation of sign language. The starting point is a review of the literature on representation and content analysis. The empirical part analyzes a selected corpus of films in which deaf characters play various roles, from marginalized figures to influential participants in the plot. The coding scheme combines both quantitative and qualitative elements, allowing capturing both the frequency of occurrence of selected categories and their significance in the narrative. The results of the study show that deaf characters play multiple roles, from marginalized figures to catalysts for change in the lives of the protagonists, and that sign language is sometimes presented in a fragmentary manner that does not always reflect its full cultural significance. The conclusions point toward the need for further research on the representation of deaf people in film, taking into account a broader social perspective.
