Uczeń z atopowym zapaleniem skóry w środowisku szkolnym

The increase in number of children and adolescents with chronic diseases, including atopic dermatitis, is one of the contemporary health problems. Peculiarity of that illness and its treatment may adversely affect multi-dimensional development of children, thusobstructing the preparation for their adult lives in society. According to Polish law, most students with chronic diseases can receive education without the need for one-on-one tuition teaching nor attending special schools. They are learning from generalcurriculum and are included in the group of students with special educational needs. Therefore, it is necessary to address their needs in the process of education, upbringing and care in school environment.The work aims to lay out the characteristics of the disease, its effect on the everyday functioning of students and to analyse the supportive actions taken towards atopic dermatitis patients in Poland based on literature review. The analyzed results of predominantly quantitative studies revoled around medical and psychological issues. Based on the analysis was the assessment of undertaken actions. A theoretical model was constructed taking into account the part different environments play in the issue. The usage of the model in future studies might facilitate deciding on taking more effective supportive actions with consideration of its idiosyncratic and social aspects.Keywords: atopic dermatitis, school environment, student with chronic disease, actions supporting student
