Abstrakt (EN)
The main objective of this research is: To elaborate an Environmental Geographic Inventory of the green areas in in the Metropolitan Area of Toluca City (MATC). This responds to the problems observed at MATC, since that green areas contribute to the assimilation of atmospheric pollutants, facilitate the infiltration of rains, attenuate the air currents, regulate the thermal regime, provide shelter at different inclemency’s, dampen the effects of noise, improve the landscape and soften the visual impact of the massive constructions, this means, they influence the improvement of the quality of life of the population. The specific objectives allowed to plan the methodological stages of the study, these are: 1) To locate the green areas; 2) To quantify the green areas; and 3) To classify the different types of urban green areas of the ZMCT. To provide theoretical support to the research, we proceeded to identify concepts and categories in environmental well-being, continuing with the review based on the various authors, such as Bocco Gerardo's Environmental Geography (2013), or García Rolando´s Theory of Complex Systems (2012), since the research continues to be discussed under this stance, identifying programs and case studies in sustainable cities with environmental quality in the world. The delimitation and geographic characterization was elaborated analyzing physical and biological elements; the diagnosis of the green areas and elements that compose them was made; it is being analyzed in a spatial, statistical and temporal way.
