First identification of Zn58 β -delayed proton emission

Abstract (EN)
Theβdecay of57Zn and58Zn was investigated in an experiment at the National Superconducting CyclotronLaboratory of Michigan State University. For the first timeβ-delayed proton emission from58Zn was observedwith a branching ratio of 0.7(1)%. The proton-energy spectrum allowed for probing the Gamow-Teller strengthdistribution above the proton-separation energy in the daughter nucleus. Moreover, the absolute branching rationfor delayed-proton emission from57Zn was found to be compatible with 100%.
