Chinese Soft Power in Africa: Origins, Methods and Consequences

W architekturze systemu stosunków międzynarodowych kraje afrykańskie odgrywają znaczącą rolę, a ich kontakty z supermocarstwami, takimi jak Chiny, wpływają zarówno na sprawy wewnętrzne, jak i zagraniczne. Jednym z głównych instrumentów chińskiego wpływu na kraje afrykańskie jest soft power. Celem naszego badania jest ujawnienie głównych kierunków rozwoju chińskiej miękkiej siły na kontynencie afrykańskim na przykładzie Kenii, Tanzanii i Mozambiku oraz określenie jej konsekwencji dla społeczno-politycznego i gospodarczego krajobrazu Afryki. Badania te obejmują trzy główne części: historię kontaktów Afryka-Chiny od 1368 r., podstawowe metody i instrumenty chińskiej miękkiej siły w Afryce oraz jej konsekwencje.

In the architectonics of international relations’ system African countries play significant role, and their contacts with super powers, like China, effect on the domestic and foreign affairs as well. One of the main instruments of Chinese influence on African countries is the soft power. In the course of our study, the aim is to reveal the main directions of the development of Chinese soft power in the African continent on the case of Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and define its consequences on the socio-political and economical landscapes of Africa. This research includes three main parts: history of Africa-China contacts from 1368, core methods and instruments of Chinese Soft Power in Africa and its consequences.
