Comparação da tradução de Ensaio sobre a Cegueira de José Saramago em português, inglês e coreano de uma perspectiva linguística.

Tłumaczenie literatury w językach nowożytnych jest uważane za wymagającą pracę, a jest to jeszcze bardziej widoczne w przypadku „odległych kultur”. W tym sensie kultury koreańska i portugalska wpływają na proces tłumaczenia i wprowadzają różnice pod względem ekwiwalencji w tłumaczeniu. Niniejsza praca ma na celu analizę wpływu cech społeczno-kulturowych i językowych na tłumaczenie międzyjęzykowe w celu zachowania ekwiwalencji w tłumaczeniu powieści Saramago Ensaio sobre a Cegueira na język koreański i angielski. Aby przeprowadzić analizę, wybrano i porównano najbardziej charakterystyczne 17 przykładów z powieści w trzech językach. Jak pokazują wyniki, koreańskie tłumaczenie reprezentuje cechy kulturowe o wysokim kontekście, takie jak zmiany pragmatyczne i honoryfikatywność. Badanie to podkreśla trudną równowagę, jaką tłumacze muszą zachować między wiernością językową a rezonansem kulturowym, co wymaga nie tylko zręczności językowej, ale także głębokiego empatycznego zaangażowania zarówno w kulturę źródłową, jak i docelową.

The translation of literature in modern languages is considered demanding work, and this is even more so in the case of ‘distant cultures’. In this sense, Korean and Portuguese cultures influence the translation process and make differences in terms of the equivalence in the translation. This paper aims to analyse the influences of sociocultural and linguistic characteristics on interlingual translation in order to maintain equivalence in the translation of Saramago’s novel Ensaio sobre a Cegueira in Korean and English. To carry out the analysis, it selects and compares the most distinctive 17 examples from the novel in the three languages. As shown in the results, Korean translation represents high-context cultural characteristics, such as pragmatic changes and honorifics. This study underscores the difficult balance translators must navigate between linguistic fidelity and cultural resonance, a task that demands not only linguistic dexterity but a deep empathetic engagement with both the source and target cultures.

A tradução de literatura em línguas modernas é considerada um trabalho exigente, e isto é ainda mais verdade no caso de “culturas distantes”. Neste sentido, as culturas coreana e portuguesa influenciam o processo de tradução e estabelecem diferenças em termos de equivalência na tradução. Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as influências das caraterísticas socioculturais e linguísticas na tradução interlinguística, de modo a manter a equivalência na tradução do romance Ensaio sobre a Cegueira, de Saramago, em coreano e inglês. Para levar a cabo a análise, seleciona e compara os 17 exemplos mais distintivos do romance nas três línguas. Como mostram os resultados, a tradução coreana representa caraterísticas culturais de alto contexto, como mudanças pragmáticas e honoríficos. Este estudo sublinha o difícil equilíbrio que os tradutores têm de encontrar entre a fidelidade linguística e a ressonância cultural, uma tarefa que exige não só destreza linguística mas também um profundo envolvimento empático com as culturas de origem e de destino.
