NATO w roku jubileuszu: kłótnia w rodzinie czy śmierć kliniczna?
Abstrakt (EN)
The article discusses the functioning of NATO in 2019. It focuses on the internal tensions in the organization due to growing divisions among the allies, particularly over burden--sharing and insufficient consultations between members; it also assesses their impact on NATO celebration of its 70th anniversary. It discusses in detail the positions of the most vocal participants of intra-alliance debates: US, France, and Turkey. The article analyzes NATO’s internal military transformation and the strengthening of its resilience, and deterrence and defence capabilities. It also discusses the operational activities of the Alliance, in particular in Afghanistan and Iraq. Finally, it presents the evolution of its relations with external partners in 2019, focusing on relations with Russia in the context of the expiration of the INF Treaty. It ends with an assessment of future perspectives of cooperation between the allies.
