Young Adult dystopia jako fenomen literacki: motywy, odbiór i wpływ ekranizacji na rynek wydawniczy

Praca poświęcona jest analizie literatury dystopijnej, szczególnie dystopii Young Adult. Celem pracy jest ukazanie tego gatunku literackiego, analizując jego genezę, najważniejsze motywy oraz funkcje społeczne i kulturowe. W rozdziale pierwszym omówiono definicje oraz genezę pojęć utopii i dystopii, a także przedstawiono główne motywy i funkcje literatury dystopijnej. Rozdział drugi prezentuje rozwój tego gatunku, z uwzględnieniem zarówno klasyki (Orwell, Huxley, Zamiatin), jak i współczesnych autorów (Collins, Roth, Atwood). Trzeci rozdział skupia się na specyfice dystopii w literaturze młodzieżowej, podkreślając cechy charakterystyczne tego nurtu, popularność oraz rolę ekranizacji w popularyzacji gatunku. Czwarty rozdział zwiera analizę wyników badania czytelnictwa, które miało na celu poznanie opinii respondentów na temat dystopii, poziomu znajomości klasycznych i współczesnych dystopii oraz wpływu adaptacji na ich zainteresowanie literaturą. Praca udowadnia, że dystopia YA pełni istotną rolę we współczesnej kulturze. Łączy funkcje rozrywkowe i refleksyjne, odpowiadając a potrzeby czytelników.

This paper is devoted to the analysis of dystopian literature, particularly Young Adult dystopia. The aim of the paper is to show this literary genre, analysing its genesis, main motifs and social and cultural functions. Chapter one discusses the definitions and origins of the concepts of utopia and dystopia, and presents the main motifs and functions of dystopian literature. The second chapter presents the development of the genre, considering both the classics (Orwell, Huxley, Zamiatin) and contemporary authors (Collins, Roth, Atwood). The third chapter focuses on the specificity of dystopia in youth literature, highlighting the characteristics of this genre, its popularity and the role of screen adaptations in popularising the genre. The fourth chapter contains an analysis of the results of a reading survey, which aimed to find out respondents' opinions on dystopia, their level of familiarity with classic and contemporary dystopias and the impact of adaptations on their interest in literature. The paper proves that YA dystopia plays an important role in contemporary culture. It combines entertaining and reflective functions, responding to the needs of readers.
