Między zabawą a rytuałem. Koncert Harry'ego Styles'a jako quasi-religijny performans społeczny

W pracy eksplorowana jest metafora wydarzenia sakralnego użyta do opisu świeckiego koncertu światowej gwiazdy muzyki rozrywkowej Harry’ego Stylesa, który odbył się w Warszawie w 2023 roku. Autorka odwołuje się się m.in. do konceptualizacji kultury masowej i elitarnej, teorii performansów społecznych Jeffrey’a Alexandra, pojęć zabawy i kultu u Johana Huizinga oraz problematyzacji stosowania metafor w naukach społecznych u Roberta Nisbeta i ujęcia transseksulaności w perspektywie teorii kultury Mircea Eliadego. Przy opisie postaci Harry’ego Stylesa i społeczności fanowskiej posłużono się materiałami zaczerpniętymi z internetu, a do przedstawienia koncertu stosowano metody etnografii i autoetnografii. W efekcie przeprowadzonego badania uzyskano następujące wnioski: koncert muzyki rozrywkowej można ująć w kategoriach religijnych,. społeczność fanowska może być przedstawiona jako zbiorowość wiernych, artysta stanowi obiekt uwielbienia z powodu obecnego współcześnie trendu zmiany obiektu sakralnego z istoty metafizycznej na jednostkę ludzką.

The paper explores the metaphor of a sacred event used to describe a secular concert by the global pop music star Harry Styles, which took place in Warsaw in 2023. The author refers, among other things, to the conceptualization of mass and elite culture, Jeffrey Alexander's theory of social performances, Johan Huizinga's notions of play and cult, as well as Robert Nisbet's problematization of the use of metaphors in social sciences and Mircea Eliade's perspective on transsexuality in the context of cultural theory. In describing Harry Styles and the fan community, materials sourced from the internet were utilized, and methods of ethnography and autoethnography were applied to present the concert. The study resulted in the following conclusions: a pop music concert can be framed in religious terms, the fan community can be depicted as a congregation of believers, and the artist becomes an object of worship due to the contemporary trend of shifting the sacred object from a metaphysical being to a human individual.
