Praca poświęcona jest pomnikowi Wyzwolenia Ziemi Warmińsko-Mazurskiej w Olsztynie Xawerego Dunikowskiego, wzniesionemu w latach 1949-1954. Jej głównym celem jest analiza założenia od strony artystycznej wraz z opisem jego wymiaru propagandowego. Łączenie w historii pomnika wątków pruskich i polskich stanowi kolejny problem badawczy pracy. Ponadto w pracy podjęto zagadnienie sensu istnienia pomnika po transformacji ustrojowej w 1989 roku oraz problematykę jego recepcji.

The thesis is devoted to Xawery Dunikowski's monument to the Liberation of the Warmian-Masurian Land in Olsztyn, erected between 1949 and 1954. Its main objective is to analyse it from the artistic side together with a description of its propagandist dimension. Combining Prussian and Polish motifs in the history of the monument is another research problem of the thesis. In addition, the thesis addresses the meaning of the monument's existence after the political transformation of 1989 and the issue of its reception.
