A la recherche d’un idéal artistique: les nouvelles musicales de Balzac (Sarrasine, Gambara, Massimilla Doni)

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza tematu poszukiwania ideału w trzech nowelach muzycznych Balzaka: „Sarrasine”, „Gambara” i „Massimilla Doni”. Powyższe utwory odzwierciedlają zamiłowanie Balzaka do muzyki i wpisują się w idealistyczny wymiar Komedii Ludzkiej. Niekiedy tragiczne losy artystów przedstawionych w nowelach świadczą o niemożliwości osiągnięcia ideału artystycznego inspirowanego muzyką. Ideał okazuje się iluzją, a dążenie do niego wpływa na stan fizyczny i psychiczny oraz status społeczny tych, którzy starają się go osiągnąć.

The objective of the present work is to analyze the theme of the quest for the ideal in three musical short stories by Balzac: ‘Sarrasine’ (1830), ‘Gambara' (1837) and ‘Massimilla Doni' (1839). These stories reflect Balzac's passion for music and are part of the idealistic dimension of La Comédie humaine. The sometimes tragic fate of the artists featured in these stories testifies to the impossibility of achieving the artistic ideal inspired by music. The ideal turns out to be nothing more than an illusion, the pursuit of which affects the health, mental state, and social status of those who try to achieve it.

L’objectif du présent travail est d’analyser le thème de la quête de l’idéal dans trois nouvelles musicales de Balzac: Sarrasine (1830), Gambara (1837) et Massimilla Doni (1839). Ces récits reflètent la passion de Balzac pour la musique et s’inscrivent dans la dimension idéaliste de La Comédie humaine. Le destin parfois tragique des artistes présents dans les nouvelles témoignent de l’impossibilité d’atteindre l’idéal artistique inspiré par la musique. L’idéal ne s’avère être qu’une illusion dont la recherche affecte la santé, l’état mental et le statut social de ceux qui tentent d’y parvenir.
