Artykuł prezentuje najważniejsze wyniki badań polskich historyków nad polską i saską polityką Rosji w dobie panowania Augusta II (1697–1733) przeprowadzo- nych w archiwach rosyjskich w ostatnich 30 latach (1991–2020), gdy były one otwarte dla badaczy. Prace te ukazują w nowym świetle kształtowanie się głównych zasad polityki rosyjskiej wobec Rzeczypospolitej, proces pogłębiającej się inge- rencji w sprawy polskie i kolejne etapy tworzenia tzw. systemu rosyjskiego, który umożliwił Rosji sprawowanie kontroli w tej części Europy.

This article presents the most important results of Polish historians’ research on Polish and Saxon Russian policy during the reign of Augustus II (1697–1733) conducted in Russian archives over the last 30 years (1991–2020), while they were open to researchers. These works show in a new light on the formation of the main principles of Russian policy towards the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the process of deepening interference in Polish affairs and the successive stages of the creation of the so-called Russian system, which enabled Russia to exercise control in this part of Europe.
