Interprétation dans le domaine du football - défis et stratégies

Niniejsza praca ma na celu omówienie wyzwań i trudności związanych z tłumaczeniem ustnym w świecie piłki nożnej, która z roku na roku staje się sportem coraz bardziej zróżnicowanym pod kątem językowym oraz wyodrębnienie strategii tłumaczeniowych możliwiające ich jak najbardziej skutecznemu sprostaniu. W związku ze wspomnianym rozwojem piłki nożnej, rola tłumacza ustnego podczas wydarzeń takich jak konferencje prasowe odbywające się przed i po meczach staje się coraz ważniejsza. Na wstępie zostały zaprezentowane ramy teoretyczne dotyczące tłumaczenia ustnego poprzez omówienie klasyfikacji tłumaczeń ustnych, typologii błędów tłumaczeniowych. Następnie zostaje opisana językowa specyfika dyskursu piłkarskiego. W trzecim rozdziale rozdziale został opisany materiał badawczy oraz procedura wykonania transkrypcji na podstawie nagrań wideo konferencji. Kluczowym elementem trzeciego rozdziału jest analiza nagrań 8 konferencji prasowych wraz z wyodrębnieniem występujących w nich pomyłek i błędów. Czwarty rozdział pracy stanowi podsumowanie analiz konferencji, które wykazało, że najczęściej występowały błędy merytoryczne oraz pominięcia. Wynikały one przede wszystkim z trzech czynników: wysokiej gęstości informacyjnej, dużej złożoności terminologicznej oraz nierzadko niskiego poziomu kompetencji językowej samych mówców. Wnioski z analizy pozwoliły na sformułowanie zestawu rekomendowanych strategii dla tłumaczy konferencji meczowych. Należą do nich między innymi: przygotowanie pozajęzykowe, techniki reformulacji i kondensacji oraz świadome zastosowanie zapożyczeń oraz typowych dla dyskursu piłkarskiego sformułowań. Weryfikacja hipotezy badawczej ostatecznie potwierdziła, że tłumaczenie ustne w środowisku piłkarskim stanowi złożony proces, który niesie za sobą szereg wyzwań dla tłumacza. Na koniec zaprezentowane zostały ograniczenia niniejszej pracy magisterskiej oraz obserwacje na temat potencjalnych przyszłych badań na temat tłumaczenia ustnego związanego z piłką nożną.

The aim of this thesis is to discuss the challenges associated with interpreting in the world of football, which is becoming an increasingly linguistically diverse sport year on year, and to identify interpreting strategies that can help minimise these challenges. In view of the aforementioned development of football, the role of the interpreter during events such as pre- and post-match press conferences is becoming increasingly important. The thesis begins by presenting the theoretical framework for interpreting, discussing the classification of interpreting and the typology of interpreting errors. It then describes the linguistic characteristics of football discourse. The third chapter describes the research material and the procedure for transcribing the video recordings of the press conferences. A key element of the third chapter is the analysis of recordings from eight press conferences, including the identification of errors occurring within them. The fourth chapter of this thesis summarises the analysis of the conferences, which revealed that the most common errors were factual errors and omissions. These were primarily due to three factors: high information density, high terminological complexity, and frequently, the low level of linguistic competence of the speakers themselves. The conclusions drawn from the analysis enabled the formulation of a set of recommended strategies for football match interpreters. These include, amongst others: non-linguistic preparation, reformulation and condensation techniques, and the deliberate use of loanwords and expressions typical of football discourse. Verification of the research hypothesis ultimately confirmed that interpreting in a football context is a complex process which presents a number of challenges for the interpreter. Finally, the limitations of this master’s thesis were outlined, along with observations regarding potential future research into interpreting in the context of football.

Le présent mémoire de master a pour objectif d’examiner défis et difficultés liés à l'interprétation dans le domaine du football, qui devient d'année en année un sport de plus en plus diversifié sur le plan linguistique, et d’identifier les stratégies d'interprétation permettant de les minimiser. Compte tenu de cette évolution du football, le rôle de l’interprète lors d’événements tels que les conférences de presse organisées avant et après les matchs prend de plus en plus d’importance. Dans un premier temps, le cadre théorique de l’interprétation est présenté à travers une analyse de la classification des types d’interprétation et de la typologie des fautes et erreurs d’interprétation. Ensuite, sont décrites les spécificités linguistiques du discours footballistique. Le troisième chapitre décrit le matériel de recherche ainsi que la procédure de transcription à partir des enregistrements vidéo des conférences de presse. L’élément clé de ce chapitre, c’est l’analyse des enregistrements de 8 conférences de presse, accompagnée de l’identification des erreurs qui y apparaissent. Le quatrième chapitre de ce travail présente un résumé de l'analyse des conférences, qui a montré que les erreurs les plus fréquentes étaient des erreurs de fond et des omissions. Celles-ci résultaient principalement de trois facteurs : une forte densité d'informations, une grande complexité terminologique et, bien souvent, un faible niveau de compétence linguistique des intervenants eux-mêmes. Les conclusions de cette analyse ont permis de formuler un ensemble de stratégies recommandées pour les interprètes de matchs de football. Parmi celles-ci figurent notamment : la préparation extra-linguistique, les techniques de reformulation et de condensation, ainsi que l’utilisation réfléchie d’emprunts et d’expressions typiques du discours footballistique. La vérification de l’hypothèse de recherche a finalement confirmé que l’interprétation dans le milieu du football constitue un processus complexe qui comporte toute une série de défis pour l’interprète. Pour conclure, ont été présentées les limites du présent mémoire ainsi que des réflexions sur les pistes de recherche futures concernant l'interprétation liée au football.
