Tytuł Europejskiej Stolicy Kultury a rozwój turystyczny wybranych miast – na przykładzie Mons i Matery

Celem niniejszej pracy jest określenie relacji między uzyskaniem tytułu Europejskiej Stolicy Kultury a rozwojem turystycznym miast Mons (Belgia) i Matera (Włochy). Na strukturę pracy składa się sześć rozdziałów. W pierwszym z nich przedstawiono historię programu Europejskiej Stolicy Kultury (ESK). Następny jest poświęcony metodyce badań. Przedstawiono w nim cel i przedmiot badania oraz pytania badawcze, a także kryteria doboru miast do badań szczegółowych i ich charakterystykę społeczno-kulturową. W trzecim i czwartym rozdziale zaprezentowano Mons i Materę jako Europejskie Stolice Kultury z uwzględnieniem starań do udziału w programie ESK i przygotowań do obchodów roku kultury. W kolejnym rozdziale, poświęconym promocji badanych miast, przeanalizowano krótkie filmy dotyczące tych miast zamieszczone na portalu Instagram. Ostatni, szósty, rozdział dotyczy przedstawienia opisywanych miast współcześnie, podsumowuje czy Mons i Matera wciąż realizują założenia Europejskiej Stolicy Kultury czy wybrały inną ścieżkę rozwoju?

The aim of this work is to determine the relationship between obtaining the title of European Capital of Culture and the tourist development of the cities of Mons (Belgium) and Matera (Italy). The structure of the work consists of six chapters. The first presents the history of the European Capital of Culture (ECC) program. The next one is devoted to the research methodology. It presents the aim and subject of the study and the research questions, as well as the criteria for selecting cities for detailed research and their socio-cultural characteristics. The third and fourth chapters present Mons and Matera as European Capitals of Culture, taking into account their efforts to participate in the ECC program and preparations for the celebrations of the year of culture. The next chapter, devoted to the promotion of the studied cities, analyzes short films about these cities posted on Instagram. The last, sixth chapter concerns the presentation of the described cities today,summarizing whether Mons and Matera continue to implement the assumptions of the European Capital of Culture, or have they chosen a different path of development?
