Przejawy nieheteronormatywności w Nigerii w kontekście kulturowym Hausa, Ibo i Joruba

Praca przedstawia analizę lokalnych przejawów nieheteronormatywności wśród trzech głównych grup etnicznych Nigerii: Hausa, Ibo oraz Joruba. Celem jest ukazanie zakorzenionych kulturowo form przekraczania norm płciowych i seksualnych. Przedmiotem analizy są m.in. instytucje ɗan daudu, female husbands oraz przejawy nieheteronormatywności w mitologii jorubskiej. Wskazano na wpływ kolonializmu i religii monoteistycznych w procesie marginalizacji tych form. Praca podważa dominującą narrację o rzekomej „nieafrykańskości” queerowości.

The paper presents an analysis of local expressions of non-heteronormativity among Nigeria’s three main ethnic groups: the Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. Its aim is to highlight culturally rooted forms of transgressing gender and sexual norms. The analysis focuses, among other things, on the institutions of ɗan daudu, female husbands, and manifestations of non-heteronormativity in Yoruba mythology. The study points to the impact of colonialism and monotheistic religions in the marginalization of these forms. It challenges the dominant narrative of queerness as supposedly “un-African.”
