The role of teacher-made animated cartoons in teaching English pronunciation to young learners in a lower-primary classroom

Celem pracy jest ukazanie znaczenia wymowy w nauczaniu języka angielskiego w klasach 1-3 poprzez dostarczenie materiałów dydaktycznych, które zostały stworzone oraz wykazanie ich efektywności. Ćwiczenia wymowy angielskiej są często pomijane, dlatego praca zawiera zasoby, które nauczyciele mogą dostosować do swoich lekcji. Ponadto w pracy uwzględniono charakterystykę uczniów klas 1-3, obejmującą ich rozwój poznawczy, rozwojowy i społeczny. Planując lekcje z wykorzystaniem materiałów wizualnych, ważne jest, aby uwzględnić związane z tym trudności i przygotować opcjonalne rozwiązania. Aby wypełnić lukę w materiałach dydaktycznych dotyczących wymowy angielskiej, zostały stworzone kreskówki, które wspierają różne formy rozwoju językowego. Kreskówki są najskuteczniejszą formą nauki języka angielskiego dla dzieci w klasach 1-3, ponieważ przyciągają uwagę uczniów i pomagają utrzymać ich koncentrację podczas lekcji. Co więcej, uczniowie, którzy są nieobecni na lekcji, również odnoszą korzyści, ponieważ lektor w kreskówkach prowadzi instrukcje dla uczniów przez cały czas trwania filmu.

The aim of the work is to demonstrate the importance of pronunciation in the teaching of English in Grades 1-3 by providing materials that have been created and demonstrating their effectiveness. English pronunciation exercises are negligible, therefore the study contains resources which teachers may adapt into their lessons. The paper includes a description of pupils in grades 1-3, covering their cognitive, developmental and social growth. At the same time it focuses on the importance of learning pronunciation for children at this age, taking into consideration the factors which influence the learning of pronunciation. While planning lessons using visual materials, it is important to consider the difficulties involved and thus prepare optional solutions. To address the gap in English pronunciation material, cartoons have been created to support various forms of language learning development. Cartoons are the most effective form of language learning for children of this age as they capture the curiosity of the learners which ensures that they are not bored. Each animated video has been prepared so that the teacher is capable of adapting it to the lesson. Furthermore, students who may not be present in the lesson will benefit as the speaker in the cartoons guides the students through the entire duration of the video.
