Socialistic blocks of flats are an important part of Polish history, but in the capitalist era they often come across as the worst place to live in. In modern autobiographic or auto-fictional novels and diaries they often reveal some other features, not only negative experience (like noises, lack of room, stink, technical problems, for instance with the elevator) but also better conditions for living, a social status upgrade for some members of the society.
