Obraz relacji homoseksualnych w mandze. Analiza jakościowa na podstawie analiz japońskich komiksów wydanych w Polsce w latach 2015-2025.

Praca magisterka jest poświęcona analizie obrazu par homoseksualnych – męskich i kobiecych – w japońskich komikach należących do gatunku boys love (yaoi) oraz girls love (yuri). Celem badania było określenie sposobów przedstawiania relacji jednopłciowych, identyfikacja przypisywanych im znaczeń oraz porównanie wizerunku gejów i lesbijek w wybranych tytułach dostępnych na polskim rynku wydawniczym. W części teoretycznej omówiłam historyczne i kulturowe uwarunkowania postrzegania homoseksualności w Japonii, zwracając uwagę na zmieniające się normy społeczne oraz wpływy procesów modernizacyjnych na podejście do relacji jednopłciowych. Przedstawiłam również historię mangi, charakterystykę jej gatunków, w szczególności boys love i girls love, ich rozwój grupy odbiorców oraz znaczenie we współczesnej kulturze popularnej. Przeprowadziłam badanie metodą jakościowej analizy treści tekstu literackiego. Materiał badawczy stanowiły wybrane mangi wydane przez najpopularniejsze polskie wydawnictwa mangowe. Analizie poddano sposób kreowania bohaterów, dynamikę relacji między partnerami, pojawiające się motywy, a także kontekst społeczny w utworach. Wyniki badań wskazują, że zarówno w mangach yaoi, jak i yuri relacje homoseksualne są często przedstawiane w sposób romantyczny i emocjonalny, jednak obraz par męskich i kobiecych różni się pod względem wykorzystywanych schematów narracyjnych. W japońskich komiksach boys love częściej wstępują wyraźnie zarysowane role partnerów (dominacja\uległość) oraz idealizacja relacji. Natomiast w girls love kładzie się nacisk na rozwój emocjonalny bohaterek i poszukiwanie własnej tożsamości. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwala stwierdzić, że mangi yaoi i yuri pełnią istotną funkcję kulturową oferując odbiorcom różnorodne reprezentacje relacji homoseksualnych. Jednocześnie sposób przedstawiania homoseksualności jest w znacznym stopniu kształtowany przez konwencje gatunkowe oraz specyfikę japońskiej kultury popularnej.

The master's thesis is devoted to the analysis of the image of homosexual couples – male and female – in Japanese comedians belonging to the genre of boys love (yaoi) and girls love (yuri). The aim of the study was to determine the ways in which same-sex relationships are presented, to identify the meanings assigned to them and to compare the image of gays and lesbians in selected titles available on the Polish publishing market. In the theoretical part, I discussed the historical and cultural determinants of the perception of homosexuality in Japan, drawing attention to changing social norms and the impact of modernization processes on the approach to same-sex relationships. I also presented the history of manga, the characteristics of its genres, in particular boys love and girls love, their development of the audience and their importance in contemporary popular culture. I conducted a study using the method of qualitative analysis of the content of a literary text. The research material consisted of selected manga published by the most popular Polish manga publishers. The analysis was carried out on the way the characters are created, the dynamics of relationships between partners, the emerging motifs, as well as the social context in the works. The results of the research indicate that in both yaoi and yuri manga, homosexual relationships are often presented in a romantic and emotional way, but the image of male and female couples differs in terms of the narrative schemes used. In Japanese boys love comics, clearly outlined roles of partners (dominance\submission) and idealization of relationships are more often introduced. In Girls Love, on the other hand, the emphasis is on the emotional development of the protagonists and the search for their own identity. The analysis allows us to conclude that yaoi and yuri manga have an important cultural function, offering the audience various representations of homosexual relationships. At the same time, the way homosexuality is presented is largely shaped by genre conventions and the specificity of Japanese popular culture.
