Poznawcze i neuronalne mechanizmy kształtujące doświadczenie odbioru sztuki wizualnej

Doświadczenia estetyczne to reakcje emocjonalne, poznawcze i percepcyjne, pojawiające się w wyniku kontaktu odbiorcy z danym obiektem. Celem pracy było przedstawienie aktualnego stanu wiedzy na temat mechanizmów poznawczych i neuronalnych stojących za kształtowaniem się doświadczeń odbioru sztuki wizualnej oraz czynników je modulujących. Omówiono klasyczne podejścia do badań estetycznych, jak kwestionariusze ocen oraz nowoczesne narzędzia obejmujące neuroobrazowanie, analizę ruchów gałek ocznych oraz wskaźniki psychofizjologiczne. Przedstawiono wybrane modele teoretyczne doświadczenia estetycznego w tym model Ledera. Omówione w pracy badania wyróżniały spójne wzorce neuronalne doceniania i przetwarzania sztuki wizualnej w obrębie wielu obszarów mózgu, związanych z przetwarzaniem wzrokowym, emocjonalnym oraz oceną wartości hedonistycznej. W pracy zidentyfikowano również dużo czynników modulujących estetyczne reakcje widzów oraz ich zdolność interpretacji dzieł, jak wiedza i doświadczenie życiowe, kultura, złożoność obrazu oraz jego kontekst. W dalszej części pracy wyłoniono istotne cechy dzieł, warunkujące atrakcyjność poznawczą i estetyczną, jak kompozycja, kontrasty, styl, obecność postaci ludzkich i wiele innych. Integracja tak obszernej klasy czynników oraz procesów poznawczych i neuronalnych pokazuje wieloczynnikowość doświadczeń płynących z odbioru sztuk wizualnych.

Aesthetic experiences are emotional, cognitive, and perceptual responses that arise from an individual's interaction with a given object. The aim of this thesis was to present the current state of knowledge regarding the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying the formation of aesthetic experiences in response to visual art, as well as the factors that modulate them. The thesis discusses both classical approaches to aesthetic research, such as rating questionnaires, and modern tools including neuroimaging, eye-tracking analysis, and psychophysiological indicators. Selected theoretical models of aesthetic experience are presented, including Leder’s model. The reviewed studies reveal consistent neural patterns associated with the appreciation and processing of visual art, involving brain regions related to visual processing, emotional response, and hedonic valuation. Furthermore, the thesis identifies numerous factors that modulate aesthetic reactions and the viewer’s ability to interpret artworks, such as knowledge and life experience, cultural background, image complexity, and contextual cues. In the later sections, key features of artworks influencing cognitive and aesthetic appeal are outlined, such as composition, contrast, style, the presence of human figures, and many others. The integration of such a wide range of factors and cognitive and neural processes highlights the multifactorial nature of aesthetic experiences evoked by visual art.
