Lata osiemdziesiąte dwudziestego wieku były okresem głębokich przemian politycznych i społecznych w Polskiej Rzeczpospolitej Ludowej, wywierających wpływ na warunki życia młodzieży. W tym kontekście istotne znaczenie posiadała rozwijająca się subkultura punk, która powstała jako wyraz niezadowolenia i buntu młodych ludzi wobec obowiązujących norm oraz kultury dominującej. O ile subkultura punk w Polsce nie była ruchem politycznym, o tyle jej przedstawiciele otwarcie sprzeciwiali się władzy PRL oraz kwestionowali wszelkie instytucje podległe państwu. Bezpośrednią reakcją na buntownicze postawy młodych były podejmowane przez organy państwa działania prewencyjne. Subkultura punk stała się popularnym tematem kontrolowanego przez władzę publicznego dyskursu oraz obiektem deprecjonujących ataków ze strony instytucji propagandowych. Celem autorów było antagonizowanie polskiego społeczeństwa wobec punku. Równolegle, subkultura punk stała się celem wieloaspektowych działań represyjnych prowadzonych przez organy służb porządkowych. Wobec przedstawicieli ruchu stosowano przemoc, narzędzia inwigilacji, cenzurę oraz zastraszanie. Równie istotną formą ograniczenia wolności jednostek, z perspektywy działalności członków subkultury punk, była kontrola przebiegu koncertów rockowych oraz zgromadzeń o charakterze muzycznym.

The 1980s were a period of profound political and social changes in the Polish People's Republic, affecting the living conditions of young people. In this context, the developing punk subculture was important, which emerged as an expression of young people's dissatisfaction and rebellion against the applicable norms and the dominant culture. While the punk subculture in Poland was not a political movement, its representatives openly opposed the authority of the Polish People's Republic and questioned all institutions subordinated to the state. Preventive actions taken by the state authorities were a direct reaction to the rebellious attitudes of young people. The punk subculture has become a popular topic of public discourse controlled by the authorities and the object of deprecating attacks from propaganda institutions. Their goal was to antagonize Polish society towards punk. At the same time, the punk subculture became the target of multi-faceted repressive actions carried out by law enforcement agencies. Violence, surveillance tools, censorship and intimidation were used against representatives of the movement. An equally important form of limiting individual freedom, from the perspective of the activities of members of the punk subculture, was the control of rock concerts and musical gatherings.
