Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia teoretyczne podstawy marketingu, marki, marketingu sportowego i sponsoringu.

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis of the football shirt as a marketing communication tool and an advertising medium in professional sports. The aim of the thesis is to present the evolution of the functions of the football shirt and to determine how the use of its front surface by sponsors changed between 1990 and 2025. Particular attention is paid to the importance of brands, sports sponsorship, club symbolism, and the relationship between the club, sponsor, and fans. The first chapter presents the theoretical foundations of marketing, branding, sports marketing, and sponsorship. The second chapter focuses on the evolution of the football shirt from an element of sportswear into a commercial product and advertising space, as well as on the significance of club colors, the club crest, and club identity, and the risks associated with sponsorship. The third chapter presents original research based on retrospective content analysis and quantitative coding of data concerning 18 clubs from six European markets during the 1990/91–2024/25 seasons. The analysis indicates a clear increase in the prevalence of sponsors on football shirts, as well as changes in the industry and geographical structure of advertisers. At the same time, significant differences were identified between individual markets in terms of the origins of sponsors, the duration of partnerships, and the way in which sponsor logos are displayed.
