Queerowe plugastwo: kamp i transgresja jako estetyki oporu w filmach Johna Watersa

Przedmiotem artykułu są wczesne filmy Johna Watersa – określanego „papieżem chały” (ang. the Pope of Trash) oraz „księciem rzygowin” (ang. Prince of Puke) – analizowane w kategoriach kampu, transgresji i queeru. Kino Watersa ukazuje queerową wrażliwość, która dziś, pół wieku później, może służyć za inspirację dla różnorakich form sprzeciwu wobec asymilacyjnych polityk reprezentacji LGBT+. Łącząc Sadyczny abiekt i estetykę nadmiaru z kampowym przegięciem, filmy Watersa (Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble) stanowią przestrzeń kontrkulturowych eksperymentów, w których w symbiotyczną relację wchodzą libertynizm postaci, fascynacja Rodziną Mansona i zbrodnią oraz potwornością. Celem artykułu jest uchwycenie momentów, w których queer, kamp i transgresja wchodzą w dynamiczny dialog, odsłaniając buntowniczy i emancypacyjny potencjał tych dzieł.

The subject of this article is the early films of John Waters – known as the “Pope of Trash” and the “Prince of Puke” – analyzed through the lenses of camp, transgression, and queer theory. Waters’s cinema reveals a queer sensibility that, half a century later, can serve as an inspiration for various forms of resistance to assimilationist LGBT+ representation politics. Combining Sadean abjection and the aesthetics of excess with camp exaggeration, Waters’s films (Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble) constitute a space of countercultural experimentation, in which the libertinism of characters, fascination with the Manson Family, crime, and the monstrous enter into a symbiotic relationship. The article aims to capture moments in which queer, camp, and transgression engage in a dynamic dialogue, revealing the rebellious and emancipatory potential of these works.
