Where Power Meets Knowledge. The Case of Latin American Studies in Poland

The new Law on Higher Education and Science, referred to as the “Constitution for Sci-ence” or the “Law 2.0,” has thoroughly reshaped research activities and academic educa-tion in Poland, and Latin American Studies—which gained a well-established position since the transformation of the 1980s and 1990s—is no exception. However, it would ap-pear that the introduced changes may have a negative, rather than positive impact. The following article sets out to outline the current situation of Latin American Studies in Po-land in the context of the relations between science and politics under the circumstances of the new legislation.
