Przemiany funkcjonalno-przestrzenne miejscowości Theologos (Rodos, Grecja) pod wpływem rozwoju turystyki

Celem pracy było rozpoznanie przemian funkcjonalno-przestrzennych miejscowości Theologos, położonej na północno-zachodnim wybrzeżu greckiej wyspy Rodos. Wyspa dominuje w regionie Egeju Południowego pod względem powierzchni, liczby mieszkańców oraz liczby przyjmowanych turystów. Masowa turystyka rozwinęła się w regionie w drugiej połowie XX w. Do realizacji celu wykorzystano źródła pierwotne (inwentaryzację elementów stałego zagospodarowania turystycznego, częściowo ustrukturyzowane wywiady swobodne) oraz źródła wtórne (spis budynków zawierający archiwalne dane o stanie zabudowy miejscowości na przestrzeni lat oraz w podziale na kategorie, archiwalne zdjęcia lotnicze i satelitarne obszaru). Z analizy wynika, że w latach 80. XX w. Theologos zostało intensywnie zagospodarowane turystycznie, a po roku 2000 rozwój zwolnił. Wykształciły się też wyraźna strefa turystyczna na wybrzeżu oraz, w większym stopniu, zachowująca lokalny charakter strefa historyczna. Zwrócono uwagę na czynniki warunkujące rozbudowę zagospodarowania turystycznego, układ przestrzenny oraz zmieniającą się funkcję gruntów.

The objective of this study was to identify the functional and spatial transformations of the town of Theologos, located on the north-western coast of the Greek island of Rhodes. Rhodes dominates the South Aegean region in terms of land area, population, and tourist arrivals. Mass tourism developed in the region during the second half of the 20th century. To achieve the research objective, primary sources (an inventory of permanent tourism infrastructure and semi-structured in-depth interviews) and secondary sources (a building register containing archival data on the state of local infrastructure over time and categorized by functional types, as well as archival aerial and satellite photographs of the area) were utilized. The analysis indicates that during the 1980s, Theologos underwent intensive tourism development, whereas after the year 2000, this growth slowed down. Furthermore, two distinct zones emerged: a pronounced tourist zone along the coast and a historical zone inland that largely retains its local character. Attention was also drawn to the factors conditioning the expansion of tourism infrastructure, the spatial layout, and the changing patterns of land use.
