Wyrażenie ze "wszech miar" - ze wszech miar godne uwagi
Abstrakt (EN)
The article deals with the grammatical and semantic properties of the Polish idiomatic expression ze wszech miar (approximately ‘in full measure, in every respect, in every way’). Contrary to what one can read in dictionaries, this expression belongs neither to the class of adverbs nor to the class of particles. It is rather a kind of meta-predicate since, on the one hand, it cannot be negated in the usual way, something which makes it similar to particles, and on the other, it is, unlike particles, very demanding and restrictive in terms of its lexical distributional features. The meaning of this unit should not be equated with the content of the word bardzo or the expression pod każdym względem. In the final part of the article, the author submits a semantic representation of the analysed expression.
