Généralisation, adaptation et inconsistance dans la traduction des éléments linguistiques et culturels : analyse de la traduction française d'Ekspozycja de Remigiusz Mróz

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest krytycznej analizie przekładu elementów językowych i kulturowych z języka polskiego na język francuski w powieści kryminalnej Ekspozycja Remigiusza Mroza. Część teoretyczna obejmuje szczegółowe omówienie gatunku, jakim jest powieść kryminalna, charakterystykę korpusu, informacje o autorze i tłumaczu, a także przegląd strategii i technik tłumaczeniowych. Analiza empiryczna koncentruje się na dwóch technikach zastosowanych przez tłumacza – generalizacji i adaptacji – oraz na problemie niekonsekwencji terminologicznej. Celem badania było określenie wpływu wybranych technik translatorskich oraz niekonsekwencji terminologicznej na jakość przekładu literackiego. Wyniki wskazują, że jakość przekładu nie zależy wyłącznie od wyboru konkretnej techniki, ponieważ zarówno generalizacja, jak i adaptacja mogą prowadzić do rozwiązań trafnych lub problematycznych. Najbardziej negatywny wpływ na spójność i zrozumiałość tekstu wywiera natomiast niekonsekwencja terminologiczna, która może znacząco utrudniać odbiór i interpretację przekładu.

The present work is devoted to a critical analysis of the translation of linguistic and cultural elements from Polish into French in the crime novel Ekspozycja by Remigiusz Mróz. The theoretical part includes a detailed presentation of the crime novel genre, a characterization of the corpus, information about the author and the translator, as well as an overview of translation strategies and techniques. The empirical analysis focuses on two techniques employed by the translator – generalization and adaptation – as well as on the issue of terminological inconsistency. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of selected translation techniques and terminological inconsistency on the quality of literary translation. The findings indicate that translation quality does not depend solely on the choice of a particular technique, since both generalization and adaptation can lead to either appropriate or problematic solutions. In contrast, terminological inconsistency has the most negative effect on the coherence and comprehensibility of the text, as it can significantly hinder the reception and interpretation of the translation.

Le présent travail est consacré à une analyse critique de la traduction des éléments linguistiques et culturels du polonais vers le français dans le roman policier Ekspozycja de Remigiusz Mróz. La partie théorique contient une présentation détaillée du genre du roman policier, une caractérisation du corpus, des informations sur l’auteur et le traducteur, ainsi qu’un aperçu des stratégies et des techniques de traduction. L’analyse empirique se concentre sur deux techniques employées par le traducteur – la généralisation et l’adaptation – ainsi que sur le problème de l’inconsistance terminologique. L’objectif de cette étude était de déterminer l’influence des techniques de traduction sélectionnées ainsi que de l’inconsistance terminologique sur la qualité de la traduction littéraire. Les résultats montrent que la qualité d’une traduction ne dépend pas uniquement du choix d’une technique particulière, puisque la généralisation comme l’adaptation peuvent conduire à des solutions pertinentes ou problématiques. En revanche, l’inconsistance terminologique exerce l’impact le plus négatif sur la cohérence et l’intelligibilité du texte, car elle peut considérablement compliquer la réception et l’interprétation de la traduction.
