Philosophical Reevaluation of Current International Regulations of Armed Conflicts

Ta praca ma na celu przybliżenie czytelnikowi obecne podejścia do międzynarodowych regulacji konfliktòw zbrojnych, z szczególnym uwzględnieniem realizmu, idealizmu oraz pragmatyzmu. Poprzez pokazanie obecnego stanu świata oraz przeszłych wydarzeń historycznych które doprowadziły do gwałtownej potrzeby zmian, praca tworzy szeroki obraz problemow trapiących tak zwany “zachód”. Ponadto, wybrane przykłady, zarówno z sytuacji bojowych oraz takich, które bezpośrednio na nie wpływają, mianowicie szpiegowstwo lub rozmowy pokojowe, pozwolą na dogłębne przedstawienie silnych oraz słabych stron uprzednio wymienionych podejść, z dodatkowym naciskiem na podejscie Pragmatyczne jako potencjalne rozwiązanie problemów trapiących pozostałe dwa. Autor dodatkowo wprowadza wariant podejscia Pragmatycznego, nazwanego Pragmatyzmem Defensywnym, jako potencjalne pogłębienie pracy teoretycznej, która poprzez nastawienie na rozwiązania może być dużo lepiej dostosowana do potrzeb oraz konfliktów, które mogą spotkać Unię Europejską.

This work aims to bring readers the current approaches towards the international regulations of armed conflicts, focusing on the realism, idealism and pragmatism. By showcasing the world’s current state and past historical events that lead up to the rapid need for change, it creates a versatile portrayal of the problems for the so-called West. Furthermore, a selection of case studies, both from combat situations and situations that directly impact combat, such as espionage and peace talks, allows for the more in-depth portrayal of the strengths and weaknesses of the aforementioned approaches, with a strong stress placed on the Pragmatist approach as a potential solution for the shortcomings of the other two. The author also introduces a variant of the Pragmatist approach, named defensive pragmatism as a potential further development of the theoretical work, which might come as a more solution-oriented approach, well adapted to the potential conflicts that might befall the European Union.
