Le phénomène de bovarysme dans le contexte postcolonial : La Nuit cyclone de JeanFrançois Samlong.

Niniejsza praca ma na celu analizę tego, jak wyraża się zjawisko bowaryzmu przeszczepione na grunt postkolonialny. Przedmiotem analizy będzie powieść Jeana-François Samlonga La Nuit cyclone, wydana w 1992 roku, której akcja rozgrywa się na wyspie Réunion w latach 50. XX wieku. Poprzez analizę działań bohaterów praca próbuje odpowiedzieć na pytanie w jaki sposób objawia się bowaryzm w analizowanym kontekście. Wnioski zaprowadzą nas do konstatacji, że istotne okażą się tu nie tylko indywidualne predyspozycje bohaterów, ale także, a może przede wszystkim, wzorce wywiedzione z kryteriów kolonialnych, wciąż obecnych i głęboko zakorzenionych w pamięci zbiorowej tej społeczności.

The purpose of this BA thesis is to analyze how the phenomenon of Bovarysm is expressed when transplanted into a postcolonial context. The subject of the analysis will be Jean-François Samlong’s novel La Nuit cyclone, published in 1992 and set on the island of Réunion in the 1950s. Through an analysis of the characters’ actions, this thesis seeks to answer the question of how Bovarysm manifests itself in this particular context. The conclusions will demonstrate that what proves significant here are not only the individual predispositions of the characters but also, and perhaps most importantly, patterns derived from colonial frameworks, which remain present and deeply embedded in the collective memory of this society.

Le présent mémoire vise à analyser la manière dont se manifeste le phénomène de bovarysme dans un contexte postcolonial. L’objet de cette étude sera le roman de Jean-François Samlong, La Nuit cyclone, publié en 1992, dont l’action se déroule sur l’île de La Réunion dans les années 1950. À travers l’analyse des actions des personnages, ce travail tente de répondre à la question de savoir de quelle manière le bovarysme se manifeste dans ce contexte. Les conclusions nous amèneront à constater que ce sont non seulement les prédispositions individuelles des personnages qui se révèlent déterminantes, mais aussi, et peut-être surtout, des modèles issus des critères coloniaux, toujours présents et profondément enracinés dans la mémoire collective de la société en question.
