O pojęciu obrazu dialektycznego w filozofii Waltera Benjamina w świetle problemów ikonoklazmu oraz Platońskiej krytyki mimesis

W pracy podejmuję próbę rekonstrukcji pojęcia obrazu dialektycznego w filozofii Waltera Benjamina, zwracając uwagę na problemy z zakresu filozofii obrazu oraz filozofii reprezentacji, jakie mogą się z tym pojęciem wiązać. W moim ujęciu kluczową rolę odgrywa koncepcja filozoficznego ikonoklazmu, którą wprowadzam, interpretując problem krytyki mimesis zawarty na kartach dialogów Platona, w szczególności księgi X „Państwa. Pierwszy rozdział pracy jest poświęcony argumentacji Platona oraz jej analizie. W następnych dwóch rozdziałach szkicuję to, jakie są konsekwencje odniesienia filozofii Waltera Benjamina do problemu mimesis oraz szerszego filozoficznego problemu przedstawień jako takich. W drugim rozdziale podejmuję się analizy wstępu do pracy „Źródło dramatu żałobnego w Niemczech Benjamina oraz jego innych pism, na przykładzie których uwidaczniam ikonoklastyczne intuicje żydowskiego filozofa oraz jego ikonoklastyczną retorykę. W najdłuższym rozdziale trzecim wprowadzam pojęcie obrazu dialektycznego oraz przedstawiam jego rolę na tle całości projektu Pasaży. Szkicuję interpretację późnej filozofii Benjamina, w której dochodziłaby do głosu koncepcja historii jako obrazu, najściślej związana z pojęciem obrazu dialektycznego. W końcowych partiach tekstu ukazuję, jak interpretacja tego pojęcia, wiąże się z filozofią Platona oraz problemem mimesis. Pracę zamykam krótkimi rozważaniami na temat tego, jakie mogą być możliwe etyczne oraz metafizyczne motywacje filozofii Benjamina.

In this work I attempt to reconstruct Walter Benjamin's notion of dialectical image while taking into consideration some issues of image philosophy and philosophy of representation related to this matter. The key concept in my study is that of philosophical iconoclasm, which I introduce by interpreting problem of critique of mimesis presented in Plato's dialogues, mainly book X of the Republic. In first chapter I analyze Plato's argumentation against the notion of mimesis. In two next chapters I draw the consequences of relating Benjamin's philosophy to the mimesis problem and broader problem of representation in philosophy. In second chapter I interpret Benjamin's book Origin of the German Trauerspiel and his other works in which I try to show philosopher's iconoclastic intuitions and rhetoric. In the longest, third chapter I introduce the concept of dialectical image and present its role in the whole of the Arcades Project. I sketch a conception of Benjamin's late philosophy of history as the notion of history as an image, which is related to considerations upon the concept of dialectical images. In last section of third chapter I show how these considerations are connected to Plato's philosophy and the mimesis problem. I finish my work with reflection on metaphysical and ethical motivations of Benjamin's philosophy.
