Normalność, nienormalność, neuroróżnorodność: filozoficzna analiza pojęć

Powyższa praca poświęcona jest analizie pojęć „normalność”, „nienormalność” oraz „neuroróżnorodność”. Celem pracy jest zrozumienie ich znaczenie i wyjaśnienie, jakie relacje występują między nimi. Analiza nawiązuje do sporu między stanowiskiem konstruktywistycznym i obiektywistycznym w rozumieniu „zdrowia” i „choroby”. Przedstawia koncepcję konstruktywistyczną, która przeciwstawia się istnieniu obiektywnych kryteriów „normalności” w praktyce medycznej i psychiatrycznej. Argumentuje, że stanowisko normatywistyczne i jego podejście do „normalności” i „nienormalności” pozwala przeciwstawić się społecznym formom opresji. Praca podejmuje próbę zestawienia filozoficznego i społecznego wymiaru rozumienia i kształtowania się pojęć. W dwóch pierwszych rozdziałach omawia filozoficzny pogląd na pojęcia „normy”, „normalności” i „nienormalności”, rekonstruując konstruktywistyczne stanowisko Georgesa Canguilhema oraz Michela Foucaulta. Porusza problemy: granicy między tym, co normalne a tym co, patologiczne; historii instytucji psychiatrii; opresji szaleństwa; norm jako przejawu biowładzy. Kolejny rozdział poświęcony jest pojęciu neuroróżnorodności. Skupia się na analizie genealogii pojęcia oraz historii ruchu neuroróżnorodności. Przedstawiony zostaje problem dwóch spornych stanowisk: „pro-leczenie” i „anty-leczenie”, który ukazuje dynamikę społeczno-medycznej dyskusji dotyczącej spektrum autyzmu. Na podstawie omawianych publikacji samorzeczniczek i samorzeczników ruchu na rzecz neuroróżnorodności, pokazano, jak obiektywistyczne rozumienie „nienormalności” przyczynia się do opresji osób neuroodmiennych. Wreszcie, w rozdziale czwartym, praca odnosi stanowisko filozoficzne dotyczące „normalności” i „nienormalności” do pojęcia neuroróżnorodności, pokazując wartość perspektywy konstruktywistycznej.

The thesis analyzes the concepts of “normality”, “abnormality” and “neurodiversity”. The aim of this paper is to understand the meaning of these concepts and explain what relations exist between them. The analysis refers to the dispute between the constructivist and objectivist positions in understanding “health” and “disease”. It presents the constructivist view, which opposes the existence of objective criteria of “normality” in medical and psychiatric practice. It argues that the normativist position and its approach to “normality” and “abnormality” makes it possible to oppose social forms of oppression. The thesis attempts to juxtapose the philosophical and social dimensions of understanding and the formation of concepts. In the first two chapters, it discusses the philosophical view of the concepts of “norm,” “normality” and “abnormality” reconstructing the constructivist position of Georges Canguilhem and Michel Foucault. This part addresses the problems of: the boundary between what is normal and what is pathological; the history of the institution of psychiatry; the oppression of madness; norms as a manifestation of biopower. The next chapter is devoted to the concept of neurodiversity. It focuses on analyzing the genealogy of the concept and the history of the neurodiversity movement. The problem of two disputed positions is presented: “pro-cure” and “anti-cure” which reveals the dynamics of the socio-medical discussion concerning the autism spectrum. Based on the discussed publications of self-advocates of the neurodiversity movement, it is shown how the objectivist understanding of “abnormality” contributes to the oppression of neurodiverse people. Finally, in the fourth chapter, the thesis relates the philosophical view of “normality” and “abnormality” to the concept of neurodiversity, showing the value of a constructivist position.
