Analyse comparative des techniques de traduction des noms propres dans les versions polonaise et française des films d’animation Dragons 1 et 2

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza technik tłumaczeniowych zastosowanych przez tłumaczy polskich i francuskich w przekładzie dwóch pierwszych części amerykańskiego filmu animowanego Jak wytresować smoka (oryg. How to Train Your Dragon). Praca składa się z części teoretycznej oraz praktycznej. Część teoretyczna obejmuje cztery główne zagadnienia: przegląd praktyk tłumaczeniowych – dawnych i współczesnych, wprowadzenie do tłumaczenia audiowizualnego wraz z omówieniem jego ograniczeń, analizę nazw własnych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem nazw własnych złożonych oraz technik ich przekładu, a także przegląd zapożyczeń i kalek językowych. Część praktyczna opiera się na analizie korpusu składającego się ze 114 nazw własnych występujących w obu filmach. Celem tej części pracy jest, za pomocą analizy jakościowej, identyfikacja i klasyfikacja zastosowanych technik tłumaczeniowych oraz określenie możliwych źródeł inspiracji, które wpłynęły na wybór poszczególnych rozwiązań translatorskich.

The aim of this study is to analyse the translation techniques employed by Polish and French translators in rendering the first two instalments of the American animated film How to Train Your Dragon (Jak wytresować smoka in Polish). The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical sections. The theoretical part addresses four main areas: a survey of translation practices, past and present; an introduction to audiovisual translation, together with a discussion of its constraints; an analysis of proper names, with particular emphasis on compound proper names and the techniques used to translate them; a review of lexical borrowings and calques.The practical part is based on a corpus of 114 proper names occurring in both films. Through qualitative analysis, it seeks to identify and classify the translation techniques applied and to determine the possible sources of inspiration that guided the translators’ specific choices.

L’objectif de ce mémoire est d’analyser les techniques de traduction utilisées par les traducteurs polonais et français dans les deux premiers volets du film d’animation américain Dragons (titre original : How to Train Your Dragon). Le mémoire se compose de deux parties : théorique et pratique. La partie théorique aborde quatre thèmes principaux : un aperçu des pratiques de traduction – anciennes et contemporaines, une introduction à la traduction audiovisuelle avec une présentation de ses spécificités et de ses contraintes, une analyse de la structure et des principes de formation des noms propres – en particulier des noms propres composés – ainsi qu’un aperçu des types d’emprunts et de calques linguistiques. La partie pratique repose sur l’analyse d’un corpus de 114 noms propres apparaissant dans les deux films. Le but de cette partie est, à l’aide d’une analyse qualitative, d’identifier et de classer les techniques de traduction employées, ainsi que de déterminer les sources d’inspiration possibles ayant influencé le choix des différentes solutions de traduction.
