Park Narodowy Gauja na Łotwie. Wybrane aspekty

The general characteristics of the oldest and largest national park in Latvia – the Gauja park are presented. Natural conditions of the park, such as: geological structure, surface shape, climatic and hydrological conditions, vegetation, were described paying special attention to the significance of Devonian sandstones in shaping the landscapes of this area. The land use and functional zones of Gauja NP were also presented as well as some interesting natural and historical-cultural objects inside the park were characterized. It was noted that Gauja NP is one of the most important objects of development of ecological tourism in Latvia.
