Co oznacza Make America Great Again - analiza przemówień Donalda Trumpa z wieców wyborczych podczas kampanii wyborczej 2024 roku.

Tematyką niniejszej pracy jest analiza przemówień Donalda Trumpa. Analizą zostały objęte przemówienia z kampanii wyborczej od września do listopada 2024 r. z wieców wyborczych, oraz 3 dodatkowe przemówienia za drugiej kadencji obecnego prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych. Celem pracy było zidentyfikowanie na czym polega narracja w sloganie Make America Great Again. Przeprowadzona analiza miała charakter indukcyjny: przemówienia były odsłuchiwane i kodowane w języku oryginalnym (angielskim), a następnie fragmenty były zapisywane, wykorzystując do tego arkusz Excela jako narzędzie kodowania. W kontekście pracy istotne są kategorie wrogów oraz zagrożeń, jakie przedstawia obecny prezydent USA. W kategorii wrogów Donald Trump w pierwszej kolejności wymienia imigrantów, a następnie Kamalę Harris, natomiast w kategorii zagrożeń kolejność jest odwrotna. Mimo, że w kategorii zagrożeń najczęściej występowała kandydatka partii Demokratów, to imigranci pozostają centralną pozycją w analizowanym materiale, która jest kluczowa do zrozumienia hasła MAGA. Wobec imigrantów w przemówieniach stosowany jest mechanizm dehumanizacji, a język i fragmenty, które zostały przeanalizowane, zostały zinterpretowane jako przejawy mowy nienawiści: a więc skrajnego wykluczenia oraz dehumanizacji. Dodatkowo, u Donalda Trumpa zauważono cechy paranoi politycznej, choć nie można jednoznacznie tego stwierdzić wyłącznie z analizy przemówień. Aby Ameryka mogła znów być wielka, należy pozbyć się przede wszystkim imigrantów, a także nie dopuścić, by Demokraci ponownie doszli do władzy – są postrzegani jako wrogowie oraz zagrożenie dla dalszego rozwoju dobrobytu kraju.

The subject of this thesis is an analysis of Donald Trump's speeches. The analysis covers campaign speeches from September to November 2024, delivered during election rallies, with three additional speeches from the second term of the current President of the United States. The aim of the study was to identify the narrative behind the slogan Make America Great Again. The analysis was inductive: the speeches were listened to and coded in their original language (English), and parts were then written in Excel spreadsheet as a coding tool. In the context of the thesis, the categories of enemies and threats, which were presented by the current U.S. President, are the most important. In the category of enemies, Donald Trump first names immigrants, followed by Kamala Harris.In the category of threats, the order is reversed. Although the Democratic Party candidate appeared most frequently in the category of threats, immigrants remain the central theme in the analyzed material and are key to understanding the MAGA slogan. A mechanism of dehumanization is used in the speeches when referring to immigrants. Language and speeches' fragments, which were analyzed, have been interpreted as hate speech: which is exclusion and dehumanization. Additionally, signs of political paranoia were observed in Donald Trump's speeches, although this cannot be definitively concluded from speech analysis alone. In order for America to be great again, it is suggested that immigrants must be removed, and that Democrats must be prevented from returning to power - both groups are portrayed as both enemies and a threat to prosperity of the country.
