Les néologismes dans la construction du monde fantastique dans l'oeuvre de Jay Kristoff « Nevernight », comparés dans les traductions française et polonaise

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest analiza neologizmów w polskim i francuskim przekładzie powieści Nevernight oraz Empire of the Vampire autorstwa Jaya Kristoffa, opublikowanych odpowiednio w 2016 i 2021 roku, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem technik tłumaczeniowych zastosowanych przez tłumaczy. Badanie wykazało tendencję do zachowania morfologicznej i semantycznej struktury neologizmów oryginalnych, a także częste stosowanie kalk. Pomiędzy przekładami ujawnia się wyraźna różnica. Wersja polska cechuje się większą kreatywnością językową, a w tłumaczeniu francuskim dominują neosemantyzmy, przy czym zaobserwowano również pewne niespójności i opuszczenia. Funkcja stylistyczna neologizmów częściej zostaje zachowana w języku polskim, podczas gdy w tłumaczeniu francuskim często zanika.

The aim of this Master’s thesis is to analyse neologisms in the French and Polish translations of Nevernight and Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff, published in 2016 and 2021 respectively. We focused on the translation techniques used by the translators. The study reveals a tendency to preserve both the morphological and semantic structure of the original neologisms, as well as a frequent use of calques. A clear difference emerges between the two translations. The Polish version demonstrated greater linguistic creativity, whereas the French translation tends to favour neosemanticisms and shows some inconsistencies and omissions. Finally, the stylistic function of the neologisms is often better preserved in Polish, while it tends to be lost in the French version.

L’objet de ce mémoire de master est d’analyser les néologismes dans les traductions française et polonaise de Nevernitght et Empire of the Vampire de Jay Kristoff, publiés respectivement en 2016 et 2021, en mettant l’accent sur les techniques traductologiques employées par les traducteurs. Il en ressort une tendance à conserver la structure morphologique et sémantique des néologismes originaux, ainsi qu'à recourir aux calques. Une différence marquée entre deux traductions apparaît : la traduction polonaise fait preuve de plus de créativité linguistique. La version française privilégie les neosemantismes. Quelques incohérences et omissions y ont été observées. Enfin, la fonction stylistique des neologismes est souvent mieux preservee en polonais, alors qu’elle disparait dans la traduction francaise.
