Amazonki, jako postaci mitologiczne, odgrywały istotną rolę w greckiej mitologii i kulturze, symbolizując siłę, niezależność oraz wyzwanie dla tradycyjnych ról płciowych. Badanie to ma na celu ukazanie, jak zmieniało się postrzeganie Amazonek oraz jakie miały one znaczenie w społeczeństwie greckim. Praca ma charakter poglądowy i składa się z trzech rozdziałów. W pierwszym rozdziale omawiana jest geneza mitu Amazonek, ich pochodzenie oraz pierwsze wzmianki w źródłach starożytnych. Przedstawiono również lokalizację ich siedzib oraz charakterystyczne cechy i atrybuty, które definiowały Amazonki w greckich mitach. Drugi rozdział skupia się na obecności Amazonek w greckiej literaturze i sztuce. Analizowane są ich przedstawienia w dziełach takich autorów jak Homer, Herodot, Pauzaniasz, Eurypides i Ajschylos oraz w sztuce wazowej. Trzeci rozdział poświęcony jest symbolice i funkcjom Amazonek w kulturze greckiej. Amazonki są analizowane jako symbol siły i niezależności oraz jako wyzwanie dla tradycyjnych ról płciowych. Omówiono również wpływ Amazonek na postrzeganie kobiet wojowniczek w kulturze greckiej oraz jego zmiany na przestrzeni wieków. Praca kończy się refleksją nad trwałością i ewolucją mitu Amazonek jako elementu kulturowego dziedzictwa starożytnej Grecji. The work focuses on the analysis of the evolution of the Amazon myth in Greek culture, from the archaic to the Hellenistic period, with possible consideration of later influences such as Byzantium. Amazons, as mythological figures, played an important role in Greek mythology and culture, symbolizing strength, independence and a challenge to traditional gender roles. This study aims to show how the perception of Amazons changed and what significance they had in Greek society. The work is of an illustrative nature and consists of three chapters. The first chapter discusses the genesis of the Amazon myth, their origin and the first mentions in ancient sources. It also presents the location of their dwellings and the characteristic features and attributes that defined Amazons in Greek myths. The second chapter focuses on the presence of Amazons in Greek literature and art. Their representations in the works of authors such as Homer, Herodotus, Pausanias, Euripides and Aeschylus and in vase art are analyzed. The third chapter is devoted to the symbolism and functions of the Amazons in Greek culture. The Amazons are analyzed as a symbol of strength and independence and as a challenge to traditional gender roles. The influence of the Amazons on the perception of female warriors in Greek culture and its changes over the centuries are also discussed. The work ends with a reflection on the durability and evolution of the Amazon myth as an element of the cultural heritage of ancient Greece. The work shows that despite changing historical and cultural contexts, the Amazon myth remains an important element of the heritage of ancient Greece, influencing literature, art and social perception of gender roles.
