Praca wykazuje zjawisko mediatyzacji miejsc katastroficznych na terenie Ukrainy, terenu który od czasów Związku Radzieckiego nękany był przez wschodnich sojuszników, a obecnie agresorów z Rosji podejmujących interwencję zbrojną. Na początku tłumaczone jest zjawisko mrocznej turystyki wyróżniając historię pochodzenia oraz jej typy. Przybliżono również historię oraz geopolitykę obszaru zainteresowań wraz z analizą zmian zachodzących w społeczeństwie Ukrainy oraz jej drogę ku demokracji, interwencja zbrojna na wschodnich granicach tego państwa została ujęta wśród wielu zagrożeń dla Ukrainy, gdzie zwrócono również uwagę na zagrożenie płynące z energetyki jądrowej.
