This master's thesis examines the multifaceted water-energy agreements concluded between the State of Israel and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, spanning the period from the 1993 Oslo Accords to the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023. It analyzes the mechanisms for implementing these agreements, as well as the political and economic consequences of them for both countries. The study aims to explore the discrepancy between the existing technological cooperation between Israel and Jordan and the persistent tensions deeply rooted in Jordanian society. The thesis comprises four chapters: the first is primarily historical, outlining the background of relations and armed conflicts, and discussing the region's hydrological situation. The second chapter analyzes specific bilateral agreements and contracts that define, among other things, the principles of water resource distribution. The third chapter examines the consequences of these agreements, the efficiency of resource management, and the impact on socio-political relations. The final chapter focuses on the prospects and challenges facing Israel and Jordan, as well as potential improvements for future cooperation.
Israeli-Jordanian agreements on water management and their impact on drinking water resources in the region.
