An Analysis of the Translation of Humour in the Polish TV Series 1670

Niniejsza praca magisterska poświęcona jest analizie wersji z napisami i dubbingiem polskiego serialu 1670. Koncentruje się na metodach tłumaczenia audiowizualnego i lokalizacji humoru. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów teoretycznych i jednego rozdziału praktycznego. Rozdział 1 zawiera omówienie tłumaczenia audiowizualnego, definicje, cechy, napisy i dubbing oraz teorie tłumaczenia. Rozdział 2 zagłębia się w tłumaczenie humorystyczne, badając jego definicje, wyzwania, strategie i metodologie analizy. Rozdział 3 zapewnia wgląd w lokalizację kulturową i językową oraz szczegółowo opisuje metodologię badań. Część praktyczna porównuje techniki tłumaczeniowe, kładąc nacisk na humor z tabelami i zaleceniami opartymi na epizodach. Praca kończy się streszczeniami w języku angielskim, rosyjskim i polskim.

This Master's thesis is devoted to the analysis of subtitled and dubbed versions of the Polish television series 1670. It focuses on audiovisual translation methods and the localisation of humour. The thesis consists of three theoretical chapters and one practical chapter. Chapter 1 provides an overview of audiovisual translation, definitions, features, subtitling and dubbing, and translation theories. Chapter 2 delves into humour translation, exploring its definitions, challenges, strategies and methodologies of analysis. Chapter 3 provides insights into cultural and linguistic localisation and details the research methodology. The practical section compares translation techniques, emphasising humour with tables and recommendations based on episodes. The work concludes with summaries in English, Russian and Polish.
