Współczesny model muzeum na przykładzie Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie

Celem pracy jest wykazanie, że istnieje współczesny model muzeum, który wyróżnia się specyficznymi tendencjami i rozwiązaniami, scharakteryzowanie go oraz ukazanie, że Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej w Warszawie wpisuje się w ów model. Na podstawie analizy historii muzeum jako instytucji publicznej, dotychczasowych badań oraz badania działalności instytucji muzealnych na świecie można stwierdzić, że na współczesny model składają się między innymi: nowe, otwarte podejście do publiczności, uwzględniające ją w działaniach instytucji, dostępna infrastruktura czy nowy rodzaj architektury muzealnej. Szczególna uwaga poświęcona jest nowo powstałej placówce w Warszawie, jej działaniom, architekturze oraz samej filozofii instytucji. Muzeum Sztuki Nowoczesnej stanowi świetny przykład zachodzących zmian oraz nowych standardów w muzealnictwie. Praca dowodzi, iż zmiany pojawiające się w muzealnictwie w XXI wieku opierają się na głębokiej przemianie misji oraz roli muzeum w społeczeństwie.

The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate that there exists a contemporary model of the museum characterized by specific tendencies and solutions, to provide a comprehensive description of this model, and to show that the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw aligns with it. Based on an analysis of the history of the museum as a public institution, previous research, and an examination of the activities of museum institutions worldwide, it can be stated that the contemporary model comprises, among other features: a new, open approach to the audience that actively involves the public in the institution’s operations; accessible infrastructure; and a new type of museum architecture. Particular attention is devoted to the newly established institution in Warsaw—its activities, architecture, and institutional philosophy. The Museum of Modern Art serves as an excellent example of the ongoing transformations and the emergence of new standards in museology. This thesis argues that the changes occurring in museum practice in the 21st century are rooted in a profound redefinition of the museum’s mission and its role within society.
