Wczesne dzieje tekstu Koranu – sab‘at aḥruf vs. sab‘ qirā’āt, kanon i herezja

The paper attempts to look into the early textual history of the Qur’ān through the prism of selected studies devoted to the issues of sab'at aḥruf and sab 'qirā'āt. In the longer term, the intricacies of the cultural, religious and scholarly intertwining of these two notions may help in directing efforts in the field of Qur’ānic studies to develop a critical edition of the text on the basis of the oldest and best surviving manuscripts and secondary literature. The search for the autographic / authoritative textual versions is also an attempt to reach as far as possible into the earliest history of Islam. Critical reconstruction of the text encounters numerous obstacles, but it is gaining more and more adepts, also hypotheses and speculations multiply at a big scale. The very process of studying available sources and verifying the status quaestionis provides a unique historical, dogmatic and literary insight into the history of this great book of humanity.
