Czy płeć stanowi przeszkodę w pracy policjantki?

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie historii dyskryminacji kobiet, a także odpowiedź na pytanie: „Czy płeć w zawodzie funkcjonariuszki policji stanowi przeszkodę? A może atut?”. Do zbadania tego zjawiska posłużyłam się znalezioną na ten temat literaturą z zakresu historii feminizmu, historii kobiet w policji oraz barier napotykanych przez kobiety na rynku pracy, a także przeprowadziłam wywiady z obecnymi, a także byłymi policjantkami i milicjantkami w różnym wieku, które opisały swoje osobiste doświadczenia i odczucia na ten temat. Z analizy przeprowadzonych przeze mnie wywiadów wynika, że odpowiedź na to pytanie nie jest jednoznaczna. Okazuje się, że w niektórych przypadkach płeć stanowi przeszkodę w zawodzie policjantki. Natomiast nie jest to częste zjawisko. Z odpowiedzi funkcjonariuszek wynika, że jeśli już spotkały się z jakiegoś rodzaju dyskryminacją, to przeważnie ze strony ludzi, wobec których podejmowały interwencję. W jednym przypadku milicjantka wielokrotnie doświadczyła gorszego traktowania ze względu na płeć ze strony kolegów z pracy. W tym konkretnym przypadku uważam, że przyczyną tego były czasy. Lata siedemdziesiąte były okresem, w którym kobiety były gorzej traktowane i jawnie dyskryminowane na wielu płaszczyznach.

The purpose of this paper is to present a history of discrimination against women, and to answer the question, Is gender in the profession of a female police officer an obstacle? Or is it an asset?. In order to investigate this phenomenon, I used the literature I found on the subject in the field of the history of feminism, the history of women in the police force and the barriers women face in the labor market, as well as interviewed current, as well as former policewomen and policewomen of various ages, who described their personal experiences and feelings on the subject. My analysis of the interviews shows that the answer to this question is not clear-cut. It turns out that in some cases gender is a hindrance to the profession of a policewoman. On the other hand, it is not a frequent phenomenon. From the answers of female officers, it appears that if they have already faced some kind of discrimination, it was mostly from the people they intervened against. In one case, a female militia officer repeatedly experienced inferior treatment on the basis of gender from her male colleagues. In this particular case, I believe the reason for this was the times. The 1970s was a period when women were treated worse and openly discriminated against on many levels.
