POSTRZEGANIE KARY ŚMIERCI WE WSPÓŁCZESNYM SPOŁECZEŃSTWIE

Poniższa praca magisterska pt. „Postrzeganie kary śmierci we współczesnym społeczeństwie” zajmuje się zagadnieniem roli kary śmierci w świadomości współczesnego społeczeństwa. Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie stosunku społeczeństwa do kary śmierci poprzez analizę opinii publicznej. Badanie opiera się na analizie dostępnych danych statystycznych przedstawiających procentowe poparcie dla kary śmierci oraz analizie argumentów popierających dane stanowisko przywoływanych w wywiadach oraz komentarzach udostępnianych w Internecie. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy rozdział, mający charakter wprowadzający, przedstawia stan prawny obejmujący regulacje w zakresie kary śmierci na trzech poziomach: na poziomie prawa międzynarodowego w ujęciu ogólnoświatowym oraz regionalnym i poziomie krajowym. Rozdział drugi stanowi przedstawienie zagadnień teoretycznych związanych z problematyką kary śmierci, w tym analizę argumentów retencjonizmu oraz abolicjonizmu. Ostatni, trzeci rozdział o charakterze badawczym zajmuje się analizą stanowiska opinii publicznej w oparciu o badania sondażowe oraz inne wypowiedzi obejmujące zagadnienie kary śmierci. W tej części pracy zostały również przywołane komentarze udostępniane w Internecie, będące podstawą do próby zidentyfikowania nastrojów społecznych w zakresie wymiaru kary wobec sprawców przestępstw o szczególnym poziomie okrucieństwa.

The following master's thesis entitled “Perception of the death penalty in modern society” presents the issue of the role of the death penalty in the consciousness of modern society. The purpose of this thesis is to examine public attitudes toward the death penalty through an analysis of public opinion. The study is based on an analysis of available statistical data showing percentage support for the death penalty and an analysis of arguments supporting the opinion cited in interviews and comments shared on the Internet. The work consists of three chapters. The first chapter, which is introductory in nature, presents the legal status covering regulations regarding the death penalty at three levels: at the level of international law in global terms and at regional terms and national levels. The second chapter is a presentation of theoretical issues related to the problem of the death penalty, including an analysis of the arguments of retentionism and abolitionism. The final, third chapter of a research nature contains the analysis of the position of public opinion based on survey research and other statements covering the death penalty issue. This part of the work also cites comments made available on the Internet as a basis for attempting to identify public sentiment regarding the punishment of perpetrators of crimes with a particular level of cruelty.
