Niezdolność myślenia – dekonstrukcja tożsamości psychicznej w powieści psychologicznej okresu XX-lecia międzywojennego na podstawie „Zazdrości i medycyny” Michała Choromańskiego oraz „Adama Grywałda” Tadeusza Brezy

Praca poświęcona jest analizie zjawiska dekonstrukcji tożsamości psychicznej w polskich powieściach psychologicznych dwudziestolecia międzywojennego na przykładzie Zazdrości i medycyny Michała Choromańskiego oraz Adama Grywałda Tadeusza Brezy. Punkt wyjścia stanowią teorie psychoanalityczne Zygmunta Freuda i Wilfreda R. Biona, które umożliwiają wnikliwe odczytanie mechanizmów psychicznych obecnych w analizowanych tekstach. W części teoretycznej omówiono podstawowe założenia freudowskiej psychoanalizy, takie jak struktura psychiki (Id, Ego, Superego), mechanizmy obronne i ich wpływ na kształtowanie się tożsamości. Następnie przedstawiono teorie Biona, koncentrujące się na procesach myślenia i ich zaburzeniach (funkcja alfa, elementy alfa i beta, atak na wiązania), a także na znaczeniu relacji z obiektem dla spójności jaźni. Porównanie obu perspektyw wskazuje na różnice w podejściu do roli myślenia w integracji psychiki, przy jednoczesnym uwzględnieniu ich wspólnego zakorzenienia w modernistycznym doświadczeniu chaosu i kryzysu podmiotowości. Analiza Zazdrości i medycyny wykazała, że bohaterowie powieści funkcjonują w stanie permanentnego rozdarcia między popędami a świadomością, a brak zdolności do autorefleksji prowadzi do rozpadu ich tożsamości. W Adamie Grywałdzie natomiast kluczowym problemem jest niemożność myślenia: bohaterowie nie przetwarzają doświadczeń, przez co ich świadomość ulega dezintegracji. Wnioski pracy wskazują, że obie powieści obrazują kryzys tożsamości psychicznej jednostki niezdolnej do konstruktywnego przetwarzania lęków i emocji. Psychologizm literatury międzywojennej, inspirowany psychoanalizą oraz modernizmem, ukazuje tym samym problem niestabilności i rozszczepienia jaźni jako kluczowy element doświadczenia epoki.

This work analyzes the phenomenon of deconstruction of psychological identity in Polish psychological novels of the interwar period, using Michał Choromański's Zazdrość i Medyczny and Tadeusz Breza's Adam Grywałd as examples. The starting point is the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud and Wilfred R. Bion, which allow for a thorough understanding of the psychological mechanisms present in the analyzed texts. The theoretical section discusses the basic assumptions of Freudian psychoanalysis, such as the structure of the psyche (Id, Ego, Superego), defense mechanisms, and their impact on identity formation. Next, Bion's theories are presented, focusing on thinking processes and their disturbances (alpha function, alpha and beta elements, and the attack on bonds), as well as the importance of object relations for the coherence of the self. A comparison of both perspectives reveals differences in their approaches to the role of thinking in psyche integration, while simultaneously recognizing their common roots in the modernist experience of chaos and the crisis of subjectivity. The analysis of Zazdrość i medycyna reveals that the novel's protagonists function in a state of permanent division between drives and consciousness, and that the inability to engage in self-reflection leads to the disintegration of their identities. In Adam Grywałd, however, the key problem is the inability to think: the protagonists fail to process experiences, and as a result, their consciousness disintegrates. The study's conclusions indicate that both novels depict a crisis of psychological identity, an individual incapable of constructively processing fears and emotions. The psychologism of interwar literature, inspired by psychoanalysis and modernism, thus presents the problem of instability and splitting of the self as a key element of the period's experience.
