Are the computers going to overrule the world of translation? The comparison of Computer translation, AI translation and human translation of selected Netflix mockumentary series.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ocena zalet, wad i różnic między tłumaczeniami wykonywanymi przez człowieka, sztuczną inteligencję i tłumaczeniami algorytmicznymi, w celu uzyskania odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy komputery mogą zastąpić człowieka w procesie tłumaczenia. Tytułem wprowadzenia do tematu omówiona zostanie teoria tłumaczenia samego w sobie, jak i specyfika tłumaczeń audiowizualnych, których przykłady zostaną szczegółowo omówione w dalszej części pracy. W kolejnych rozdziałach zostaną pokrótce przedstawione właściwości tłumaczy maszynowych, takich jak tłumacze algorytmiczni. W części badawczej, aby odpowiednio przedstawić charakterystykę każdego rodzaju tłumaczenia, przeprowadzona zostanie analiza próbek tłumaczeń audiowizualnych, porównywanych pod kątem zgodności z kryteriami oceny jakości tłumaczenia oraz potencjalnych błędów tłumaczeniowych. Ponadto, szczegółowo zbadane zostaną strategie tłumaczeniowe stosowane przez każdego z tłumaczy oraz zidentyfikowane zostaną charakterystyczne dla nich cechy, jak i schematy działania.

The purpose of this thesis is to assess the strengths, flaws and differences between human, artificial intelligence and algorithmic translation, in order to answer the question of whether computers can replace humans in the translation process. As an introduction to the topic, the theory of translation itself shall be discussed, as well as the specifics of audiovisual translation, examples of which shall be discussed in detail later in the work. In the following sections, the characteristics of machine translators, such as algorithmic translators, shall be briefly presented. In the research section, in order to adequately present the characteristics of each type of translation, an analysis of audiovisual translation samples shall be conducted, compared in terms of compliance with translation quality assessment criteria and potential translation errors. In addition, the translation strategies used by each translator shall be examined in detail, and their characteristic features, as well as their patterns of operation, shall be identified.
