The aim of the article is to analyze global trends in the development of science, technology and innovation after the global crisis of 2008 and to formulate conclusions about further dynamics and development directions. The article reviews the most important factors and discusses the phenomena shaping the development of science, technology and innovation: geopolitical and environmental conditions, the need to ensure energy security or the ongoing information revolution. Particular attention was paid to the importance of the state policy, especially the amount of expenditure on research and development, efficiency in creating human capital and building a network of connections, including international research cooperation.
