De l’ironie dans la prose de Michel Houellebecq - analyse des passages choisis du roman „Sérotonine”

Niniejsza praca licencjacka ma na celu ukazanie ironicznego charakteru wybranych fragmentów powieści “Sérotonine” Michela Houellebecqa, współczesnego pisarza francuskiego. Chcemy wykazać, że subtelna ironia, zawarta w tej powieści, wyraża się poprzez wykorzystanie zarówno środków stylistycznych, jak i retorycznych w celu stworzenia spójnej narracji podkreślającej krytykę współczesnego społeczeństwa liberalnego i upadek wartości. Autor wykorzystuje ironię, aby ukazać czytelnikowi trudności życia współczesnego człowieka w społeczeństwie. Oprócz tego pokazuje on nowe tendencje społeczne, które prowadzą do nieszczęścia jednostki i jej osamotnienia. Ironiczne komentarze są narzędziem, które ma na celu ukazanie czytelnikowi kondycji współczesnego człowieka, oraz zmniejszenia dystansu między czytelnikiem a bohaterem powieści. Praca podzielona jest na dwie części. Pierwsza część zawiera przegląd literatury na temat ironii, definiując jej różne formy, środki stylistyczne i retoryczne za pomocą których się realizuje, oraz kontekst społeczno-polityczny, który jest niezbędny dla zrozumienia ironii Houellebecqa. Część druga zawiera analizę wybranych fragmentów powieści “Sérotonine”.

This thesis aims to demonstrate the ironic nature of selected passages from the novel “Sérotonine” written by Michel Houellebecq, a contemporary French author. It aims to prove that subtle irony contained in this novel is expressed through the use of both stylistic and rhetorical devices to create a coherent narrative highlighting a critique of contemporary liberal society and the collapse of its values. The author uses irony to show the reader the difficulties of modern man’s life in society. In addition, he shows the new social tendencies that lead to the individual’s misery and loneliness. Ironic comments are a tool to show the reader the condition of modern man, and to reduce the distance between the reader and the protagonist of the novel. The work is divided into two parts. The first part provides an overview of the literature on irony, defining its various forms, the stylistic and rhetorical means through which it is expressed, and the socio-political context that is essential for understanding Houellebecq’s irony. The second part contains an analysis of selected passages from the novel “Sérotonine”.

Ce mémoire de licence vise à démontrer la nature ironique des passages choisis du roman “Sérotonine” de Michel Houellebecq, un écrivain français contemporain. L’objectif est de prouver que l’ironie subtile dans ce roman est exprimée par l’utilisation de procédés stylistiques et rhétoriques afin de créer un récit cohérent mettant en évidence une critique de la société libérale contemporaine et de l’effondrement de ses valeurs. L’auteur utilise l’ironie pour montrer au lecteur les difficultés de la vie de l’homme moderne dans la société. En outre, il montre les nouvelles tendances sociales qui conduisent au malheur et à la solitude de l’individu. Les commentaires ironiques sont un outil pour montrer au lecteur la condition de l’homme moderne et pour réduire la distance entre le lecteur et le protagoniste du roman. L’ouvrage est divisé en deux parties. La première partie donne un aperçu de la littérature sur l’ironie, en définissant ses différentes formes, les moyens stylistiques et rhétoriques par lesquels elle est réalisée, et le contexte socio-politique qui est essentiel pour comprendre l’ironie houellebecquienne. La deuxième partie est consacrée à l’analyse d’une sélection de passages du roman “Sérotonine”.
